2001 Caparzo Brunello di Montalcino
Tasting Note:
Caparzo has turned out a beautiful 2001 Brunello di Montalcino. Medium ruby in color it is a delicate understated wine with classic Sangiovese nuances of cherries tobacco and underbrush on a medium-bodied frame. It shows excellent persistence and a very attractive perfumed quality on the palate along with firm tannins and a long fresh finish. A year or two of cellaring will be beneficial but with some aeration this is a delicious wine to enjoy today. Tasted again two days after opening the tannins had softened significantly and it was quite lovely. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2018. Source: Wine Advocate
