2003 Bois de Boursan Chateauneuf-du-Pape Les Baud
Tasting Note:
The Versino family has been on fire for a decade. In 2003 they added another limited production (about 2,000 bottles) luxury cuvee from 80-year old vines cropped at 20 hectoliters per hectare the 2003 Chateauneuf du Pape Les Baud. A completely destemmed blend of 50% Grenache 35% Mourvedre and 15% Syrah it possesses a dense saturated color as well as a distinctive bouquet of mint eucalyptus ground pepper melted licorice sassafras and black cherries. The complex aromatics are followed by an elegant powerful rich wine that builds incrementally in the mouth. Give it 2-3 years of bottle age and drink it over the next 12-15. Source: Wine Advocate
