Sandra Adele Pinot Noir
The J. Christopher Sandra Adele Pinot Noir is a cuvée named for Jay’s mother, Sandy. Typically it is a blend of fruit from two outstanding vineyards in the Dundee Hills AVA: Abbey Ridge and Charlie’s Vineyard. This wine shows the delicate mineral and floral aroma that is characteristic of the high-elevation Abbey Ridge vineyard, while also displaying the deeper, more earthy nature of Charlie’s vineyard.
The 2011 Sandra Adele has a soft and mouth-filling texture, with a strong acid backbone and a sustained finish. The aroma is filled with savory dried herbs, lavender and iron. This is a stunning Dundee Hills Pinot that will only improve with age.
Native yeast fermentation; 18 months in barrel. Total production: 145 cases.
THE 2011 VINTAGE
This is a vintage for true Pinot Noir lovers. The 2011 growing season was the latest and coolest on record in Oregon, but fair weather through mid-November gave us clean, healthy fruit. These cooler conditions produced wines with moderate alcohol and bright acidity, which for us is the style that best shows the delicacy, finesse and subtlety that we are looking for in this noble variety. These are beautifully balanced wines that will age extremely well for many years.Â
